The Position:
This is a full-time position, that will be based out of the GIP- Nelson River Construction shop located at 101 Dawson Rd. North in Winnipeg. This position consist of 9.5 hour work days with a start time of 7am until 5pm.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with both mechanics and Department Superintendents/Foremen to order parts for field deliveries and components for equipment repairs.
- Coordinate orders and deliveries with vendors, while building and maintaining positive business relationships with these vendors.
- Issuing and receiving Purchase Orders.
- Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files, reports and price lists.
- Processing Invoices
- Purchasing heavy-duty parts for large equipment through computer systems.
- Manage inventory and organization of parts department.
- Coordinate the ordering and distribution of Shop Consumables.
- Determine the availability and lead times of parts.
- Track, follow-up, and report back on ordered parts.
- Monitor trends and counts of parts.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in PC software and systems such as Microsoft Office, PDF, emailing, using Spread Sheets.
- Possess effective use of email and telephone communication skills
- Mechanical knowledge of construction equipment is considered an asset.
- Possess strong organizational, management, oral and written communication skills.
- Acts in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner toward vendors and co-workers in a demanding and fast paced environment with a great sense of urgency.
