Nelson River Construction is hiring a motivated Payroll and Benefits Administrator for our office out of Winnipeg, Manitoba

Summary

The Payroll and Benefits Administrator is responsible for preparing, processing and auditing payroll and benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update employee information
  • Process payroll on a weekly basis
  • Enter time for mechanics on a bi-weekly basis
  • Process payroll for hired trucks and post invoices on a bi-weekly basis
  • Prepare and verify statements of earnings for employees
  • Prepare, verify and process all employee payroll related payments, including regular pay, benefit payments, vacation pay, bonuses and payments per employee contract or collective agreement
  • Prepare, verify and process all employee payroll related deductions
  • Post hours to units and equipment, bi weekly
  • Complete, verify and process forms and documentation for administration of benefits and RRSP/DPSP
  • Prepare payroll related filings and supporting documentation, such as year-end tax statements and Records of Employment
  • Prepare and balance weekly, monthly and quarterly reports, benefits and remittances
  • Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies
  • Provide administration, information and training on payroll, benefits, RRSP/DPSP and internal programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Post Secondary Education in Payroll, Benefits, Accounting, an asset
  • Minimum 3 years experience in payroll and benefits; previous experience within construction an asset
  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) certification an asset
  • Ability to work well independently under minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical, organization and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Experience in Microsoft Suite Applications
  • Previous Experience in Vista or other payroll programs an asset
