Summary
Nelson River Construction is hiring a motivated Heavy-Duty Field Mechanic for our Equipment and Maintenance Division out of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
This is a field-based position that will require the successful candidate to travel to worksites around the province during active construction months. This may include at times staying in camp/hotel accommodations. During winter months, the position will mainly work out of the Maintenance Shop in Winnipeg.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, assemble, service, repair and maintain heavy duty equipment
- Operate efficiently and safely without sacrificing quality
- Communicate on the diagnostics and status of repairs, parts and other concerns
- Keep work truck, station, and shop clean and free of hazards
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Red Seal Certification in Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanics or extensive experience in Heavy Duty Mechanics
- Minimum Valid Class 5 Drivers License
- The ability to work with minimal direct supervision
- A strong understanding of computerized repair and testing procedures
- Skills in ET / SIS / SIS Web / STW are an asset
- Adaptable to on-call working schedules and willing to work in all-weather conditions, including working out of town and at times in a camp environment
- Construction experience an asset
- Shop and field work experience with a basic knowledge of cutting, welding and fabrication
- Able to read and understand prints, drawings and technical bulletins
- Analytical with knowledge of mechanics in electrical and hydraulic systems
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
- Self-directed team player with strong initiative, business acumen and integrity
